About the Author

This website is written, published, and maintained by me, Aileen. I am an educator, family member, and community member in Iowa. I enjoy reading, writing, foreign languages, travel, making things with my hands, conversing with family and friends, making things with words or on the computer, conversing with people at school, being outdoors--the list goes on. My interests are varied and fluid, but here is a list of some current favorites:

Current Favorite
Classical Author The Beowulf poet, of course ... unless it's Mark Twain
Contemporary Author PD James ... or maybe Tony Hillerman
Young Adult Author Rosa Guy ... or maybe Cynthia Voigt
Musical Instrument to Learn Guitar ... but only just beginning!
Garden Plant Strawberries: they're more forgiving than mint, and much sweeter and more filling.
Sport Strolling through the park or neighborhood
Board Game Chess
Movie Fly Away Home ... Or is it Avalon?
Food Strawberries ... or maybe spaghetti

I especially the enjoy young people I meet every day in my work as a substitute teacher. They are often creative, interested in the world around them, and concerned for the well-being of others. I hope they and their teachers and families are having exciting, joyous, safe summer vacations.
